This Moment...

. . . . . . . . .
{this moment}
A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

A Special Meeting...

Meet Miss Sue.
She is a sweet lady that I met here on my blog.
Almost every time I have posted..
She has commented. Always kind, always encouraging!
Whenever I see her name, it makes me smile.
This past week, this sweet lady mentioned
to me she was coming to Houston
for business.
I took a chance and asked her to dinner.
She accepted...
and oh...it was so nice to put a face to all those comments.

We had a really good time...even in a very
noisy restaurant...but we talked about all
our favorite quilting blogs, fabrics and fabric designers.
Before we knew it...it was 10 o-clock! Wow!
We even kept talking once we  reached her hotel!

Such a lovely lady...just look at her...

It is so true...but quilters are some of the nicest people...

Then...yesterday.
I opened my mailbox and saw a package.
I thought it was something else I had been working on
until I opened it.

I realized it was Sweetwater's new line called Road 15.
What???
I looked a little closer...
and there was Miss Sue's name.

Goodness!!!!
What a wonderful surprise!

Thank you Miss Sue...
For this lovely fabric!!!! from my favorite designer...
in my favorite colors!!!!

But most of all, thank you for always being such a
bright moment in my comments section...
and for the really FUN time meeting you!!!!

Hugs Hugs Hugs!!!

Snow, Showers and Realizations...

What a wonderful weekend we had with our Son David and His Ashley...
We realized a few things on this trip...

That as you can see, there was SNOW around everywhere... YAY!

That on our little tour of Solon Iowa
we saw some of the prettiest little homes
this side of Heaven I am sure...

That even the deer LOVE SNOW...
as clearly evident by the "Buck Angel" pictured above.

That my beloved son...actually can walk on water.
FROZEN water that is...hehehe

That you can spell your husband's name out in the snow....
if you really focus and run in cursive.
(love that Mr. Bill you know...)

That there's a sweet little room filled with goodies for
a new GB on the way...

That memories can be recorded on a baby's onesie and not leave a stain...

That no less than FIVE generations (counting the baby)
can be photographed together without using Photoshop..
(Gigi, Great-Great Grandmama - 97 yrs very young, Mama, Grandmama, Great-Grandmama)

That I love my son more than words could ever be spoken or written...

That sitting on the airplane to come home brings a few
life-changing realizations...

Because you see, just as I whispered with tears in my eyes
and a choking my voice in my son's ear when I hugged him goodbye...

"the next time I see you David...
You will be a Daddy".

For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD.
"They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11

Baby Goodies...

This week has been full of sewing for a new GB...(Grand baby)   :)
I love sewing for little ones and I love the materials
I get to work with.

For the newest project, I am using only fabrics from
all requested of course by the new Mama to be...
:)
Here's some of what I am working with:

Aren't these just cute?

The pattern is called - Giant Hexies Quilt Pattern
She has the pattern for sale on her Etsy site HERE
Oh My...How cute is her pattern!
Don't you agree?

Just darling...
It is going so fast...but not fast enough...
Her shower is Saturday and I won't be finished by then...
But I will have it in the mail next week for sure...
but not before I post it here!

What are you working on today?

A vintage gift

While the rest of the country seams to be held hostage by snow...
Our neck of the south is just COLD...
Sitting by the fire I thought it just appropriate to pull out
a gift I received before Christmas...

I was gifted with six beautiful Dresden blocks all made with some
of the sweetest vintage fabric.

I love all the fabrics in these blocks...

The lady that gifted these to me had a very talented grandmother who
quilted all the time. In fact, she quilted so many quilts, that my friend had
more quilts than she knew what to do with.
Such a treat when she found these tucked into a drawer and thought of me.
I am indeed going to make my own quilt from these squares...
I so value the work of other quilters...especially those who did so
much beautiful handwork.

The vintagy goodness of these 15 inch squares is just charming...
I would sure love to hear from you about what color sashing I should use..
or backing...I want to showcase these lovelies and give them the honor
they deserve...
Ideas?

I hope your weekend was warm and full of free time for sewing!
